About

My name is Dominic Shelley. I live in Great Eversden, Cambridgeshire, and am a keen amateur historian and archaeologist. My career is now in IT, but many years ago I studied Archaeology and Ancient History at Birmingham University before becoming a Field Officer for Hereford and Worcester County Council….I had to get a proper job, so left Field Archaeology…but now like a moth to a flame here I go again …

  1. Only on a whim would I find as much information as I found in Robert Lacey and Danny Danzinger’s book “The Year 1000” as on your fascinating blog site. You are too much, in a good American way. May your searches be rewarded. I hope to see you soon.

    1. Prof Tomlinson was head of the Dept when I was at Birmingham…
I studied under Barfield and Cleary mainly prehistory and Dark Age Britain…oh and of course Margaret Gelling for place names…fascinating!
